Chandigarh: Police have filed a lawsuit against the owners of two clubs in Sector 26 which were found to be open beyond the authorized time frame. Police found the Kakuna club open beyond the permitted time on Sunday and booked its owner Pulkit Mahajan (29) under section 188 of the IPC. A similar case has been filed against Shem, owner of Bargain Booze, and its manager, Mohit Sharma.

Home theft in sector 15

Chandigarh: An unknown person stole 24,000 rupees in cash and a cell phone from a house in Sector 15. Police have filed a complaint about Anmoldeep Singh at the police station in Sector 11. TNS

Young arrested with ganja

Chandigarh: The district criminal cell caught a 24-year-old with 7 kg of ganja. The suspect, identified as NAC’s Arun Kumar, Mani Majra, was caught near the Mani Majra sports complex. A case under NDPS law has been registered against him.

3 booked for a clash in Mohali

Mohali: Police arrested more than three people on Sunday who were involved in a clash between two groups of taxi drivers on the way to the airport. Three persons were named in the FIR registered under Articles 323, 341, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC at the airport police station. SHO Amandeep Kaur Airport Police Station said, “The incident took place on Sunday. The police are investigating the case ”. Complainant Inderjit Singh said that Gurdarshan Singh, Manjinder Singh and others stopped a prepaid taxi due to a dispute over passenger pickup. When he objected, the suspects attacked him with weapons as a result of which he was injured and was later admitted to a hospital. TNS

Chandan is treasurer of Bar Assn

Chandigarh: Chandan Sharma was elected treasurer of the District Bar Association without opposition on Monday. RK Yadav withdrew his candidacy for the post on the last day of the withdrawal of applications. Deputy returning officer Karam Singh said that after the withdrawal process, two candidates – Ravinder Singh Jolly and Sunil Toni – remained as chairman. Amirtveer Singh, Rajiv Kumar Rana and Vaneet Sharma will compete for the post of vice-president. Bhupinder Rana and Mukesh Kumar will seek the post of Secretary, while Navdeep Kaur, Simranjit Kaur and Sonia Kaushik will seek the post of Co-Secretary. The DBA has appointed Chaman Lal as the returning officer for the elections to be held on December 17. TNS

5 new cases of dengue fever in Mohali

Mohali: Five new cases of dengue fever and 22 suspected cases were reported in the district on Monday. With that, the tally reached 3,918. No less than 18 cases have been reported in the district in the past five days. Up to 39 presumed deaths from dengue have been recorded so far. TNS
